I’m so happy for your opportunity to write with Emma Gannon! I’m looking forward to a sense of both inwards and outwards looking this year: inward healing from a hard 2023, and outward connection with others. I came to Substack to write, but I have been blown away by its community! 🥰

Seems we have similar aims and I’m with you on the initial draw to Substack. I came here to run a side project and the experience had taken on a life of its own. It’s been serendipitous in many ways! Excited to get to know one another this year ☺️

Did you find it hard to connect with other creators starting out or how was the experience for you?

Yay to you writing more Sarah! From following you on here and on Instagram, I can tell you that you really radiate motivation and inspiration for creative work. I’m already excited about the online series about creativity.

That’s so kind, Monique! Thank you so much. I haven’t posted on here in a couple of weeks as I needed a breather from all the writing. But you’re right. I love it!

Well done Sarah on writing a guest post for Emma Gannon, I feel like that came about from your month of rejections challenge?

Thanks, Karen. I hadn’t anticipated pitching to Emma but midway through my challenge she put out an invitation to write for her! So I went for it. It was so lovely, a little unexpected, to get such a positive response!

I love your sound of your guiding words - they feel magical when you put them together I think! I'm embracing inward energy atm, full of ideas but not rushing to put anything out there yet, trying to embrace this messy middle as I know that clarity will come when it's supposed to ❤️

Thanks, Jenna. It took me a wee while to land on this combination but time well spent, I think. They feel quite solid together. And solitude is always a good idea...perfect for clearing the mind!

Happy new year Sarah, firstly massive congrats on the article with Emma Gannon. I am about to read it, can't wait. I feel the same way about Substack, I stuck my toe in and now I just love it and want to create more space for it (somehow) as part of my creative expression and business model. Look forward to supporting your paid subscription Sarah and taking your advice about how to develop this further for myself - Lis xo

Hope you enjoyed the piece on creative rest. I had so much fun writing and editing it, though I’ll admit to feeling a tiny bit of pressure 😅💛

I love your genuine writing and vulnerability. This year I am extending myself outwards and working with self-limiting beliefs when I do not get sign ups and likes. I remind myself that my Bodylove Poetry Writing Workshop is a service to bring us home to our bodies using the power of poetry, movement, and embodies writing.

Thanks for reading and sharing, Corie. I’m with you on working with self-limiting beliefs. The numbers can be a little distracting at times!

It can. My mantra is to say that whomever needs my writing, poetry, and teachings, may it find them and serve them. I am a mom of two and stepped out for 16 years. During Covid I started writing again and feel like I am starting from scratch. But my meditation and yoga practice ground me and bring forth the idea that all of life is a practice.

This is lovely Sarah, so great to see that you have turned on paid! And sending you celebratory vibes on getting your piece with Emma Gannon, your writing is so honest and gentle, yet playful, that I am sure it will be something we’ll see more of. ☺️

I was very nervous! To turn on paid AND to have my piece published. I am, however, very grateful for the response to both. And I really hope more of my writing can make it out into the world beyond these Substack pages. Thanks for your kindness and support, always 💛

Thank you for this beautiful, inspiring yet gentle post to start the year. I am so delighted that your words of wisdom have been featured by Emma and I look forward to more of the exciting things you have coming up. I love the sound of your words for the year ahead and congratulations on your new paid for offerings, they sound magic xx

That’s so kind, Lyndsay. I’ll be maintaining some flexibility around paid offerings as I’m not entirely sure they’re what readers want, even though a number of people voted in a poll for these things, so let’s see! It’s all an experiment...right? Thanks for being here 💛

I have that with my paid subscription. I always want to make it worth it for everyone and especially more for paid. At the same time to not leave anyone out. It is a dance. And from what. I have read, your work is beautiful and poignant.

Absolutely, I think flexibility is a good idea and I am sure you will be guided by what feels right. And yes I think we are all figuring it out as we go along (in the best possible way!) xx

I wonder if there’s a way to invoice those of us who would like to sign up and pay via our companies? I’d love to join ❤️ but I’d prefer the CIC to pay as I think it is more in service of the business than the personal?

Thanks, Zoe. I’d happily do that! Although I think you can change the account you pay through at the point of subscription. I’ll take a look and be in touch 💛

Oh can you? I shall investigate 😁

I managed it with another subscription this morning. But I’d still need to create an invoice for you with your CIC details just think 😊

Expand full comment

Aww I couldn’t seem to change them on my phone browser but I’ll check on the laptop when I get a chance. Substack sends receipts so I think that would be enough, if I can figure it out that way?

If not, then maybe an invoice I pay and then a comp subscription for the year? 🙏❤️

Sounds perfect, Zoe! So pleased you’re joining. And we’ll both learn something in the process 😅
