Watching from afar as my clients and friends made this place a home for their writing, I was curious to see what it might hold for me.
So I set about researching and understanding the platform, why people were flocking to it, and how it might support me in my life and work.
I’ve subscribed to many Substacks and enjoy the feel of this space, which is usually enough to inspire me to nest in. But with change afoot in my personal life, I decided to wait and see if a good enough reason to create my very own Substack might come to me.
In recent weeks my why arrived in the form of a concept I’ve been developing for some time. It has roots in my mentoring practice, where I support businesses and creatives with their brand strategy, styling and storytelling, and guide them through the variable cycles of their work. And I believe this idea could lead to greater compassion and understanding about the phases we find ourselves in, not to mention an appreciation of the importance of ideating, noticing and playing before you bring your product, service or vision to life.
Now I’ve landed on ways to grow my idea into a podcast and product, it feels like the ideal time to embrace this space, which will explore the Brand Seasons in our independent businesses and creative practices and serve as an outlet for this concept as it grows.
I believe that moving through the Brand Seasons with you and taking you along for the trip will offer a helpful way to share my process. Because being open and honest about the actions and outcome may give you a better understanding of how you might apply the same principles to your own business or practice.
I plan to write once a month while on maternity leave, and this content will be free to all subscribers. Over time, as I develop my vision for the framework, podcast and product, I may release paywalled content to offer greater support as you navigate your own Brand Seasons.
You can learn more about me and my work as a brand designer and creative mentor by visiting These Are The Days. My website is where I dive into brand strategy, styling and storytelling, and host a guest blog series called This Creative Life. I also send seasonal Inside Story letters.
I'm excited to share my next post, where I'll introduce the framework and offer a glimpse into how I'm nurturing this concept so it can take flight. Do you have a fledgling idea you’d like to share?
